Speakers:
Andrea Ridgway and Rob Haupt will speak about improving social skills and
disruptive behavior for children/adolescents on the autism spectrum using an ABA
approach called Self Management. Whether your child is severely or mildly affected,
this presentation will provide techniques that you can use at home.
Self Management training helps to achieve personal autonomy and less reliance on
others, such as teachers and parents. The process uses different techniques (including
self-monitoring, self-evaluation, and self-reinforcement) to help a child/adolescent
become more aware of his/her own behavior, know whether or not he/she has engaged
in appropriate behavior, and reward himself or herself for reaching behavioral goals.
Andrea and Rob are both Directors of Clinical Services at Autism Spectrum Therapies
